The Annual Research Nurse Conference took place on the 27th May 2008 at the Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility in Edinburgh. 19 people attended the day and 17 evaluation forms were returned. Guest speakers included Dr Sarah Wild from the SDRN Epidemiology Studies Group, Network Managers from the other topic-specific Research Networks and Dr Paul Chester from the UKDRN Training Team.

Our patient information leaflet about the National Permission to Contact Research Register has just been launched. The leaflet will be available nationally in primary and secondary care waiting rooms/clinics or alternatively downloaded.

The DVD of patients talking about their experiences of participating in research was officially launched on Friday 16 May 2008. This five minute DVD features seven patients who have all taken part in at least one study and features unscripted answers to frequently – asked questions from potential research participants.

For a study to be entered onto the portfolio a member of the study team must complete the Minimum Dataset form. The completed form should then be sent to Paul McIntosh, SDRN Administrator: SDRN Office, University of Dundee, Diabetes Support Centre, Level 8, Ninewells Hospital, Dundee DD1 9SY.
