First patient recruited to the first SDRN-adopted Study in Dumfries Royal Infirmary on 14th June 2007.

At the time of our Launch Conference seven months ago, I wrote that SDRN was in its infancy: full of potential, but with numerous challenges to negotiate on a daily basis in order to flourish. As predicted, we have had to develop fast since then - I believe we now have in place a team strong enough to deliver a real deepening and strengthening of the diabetes research infrastructure in Scotland. This is an exciting and busy time at SDRN.

The Research Register laws launched in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee on the 21 February 2007. Within 3 days, 30 patients had joined the register.

The first secondary care site to be registered to conduct research as a member of the SDRN was Monklands Hospital in Airdrie on October 10th 2006.
